Living Your Purpose – Impact the World Around
The purpose of life is not to be happy – but to matter, to be productive, to be useful, to have it make some difference that you lived at all. Happiness, in the ancient, noble sense means self-fulfillment – and it is given those who use to the fullest what ever talents God or luck or fate bestowed upon them. – Leo Rosten
Identifying one’s why is the first step to living out one’s purpose. It is not enough to know why, but one must, with every ounce of their conscious being, follow hard after it. We all must perform our why. We must do what we were created to do. We were all created for a reason; we all have a why. The reality is that only a portion of us actually takes the time to discover our purpose; while a smaller portion of that number commits to doing what it is that they were created to do or to be. If we do not pursue our why, but ignore it, our lives will still be an endless string of activities with little or no significance. Sadly, we are not able to live out our purpose and impact the world.
When you pick up our smartphone or iPhone, do you have any doubt that you will be able to make calls, listen to music, download media, take picture, etc.,? Of course you don’t. Why? Because when the phone was created, it was created and designed to be the means for you to make calls, listen to music, download media, take pictures and a host of other things that we do with the phone. Somewhere, in the paperwork we received with the phone, there is a warranty that testifies to exactly that.
Such was the case when God created us. He created us for a purpose. Then he designed us and put into us everything that we needed to accomplish our purpose–to live out our why. We would not buy a $400 dollar phone just to sit it on our desk. Why then would we walk around with the gifts and talents that We were given and not put them to use to become all that we were created to become?
It is only when we have become all that we were created to become that we become fully functional. We begin to operate out of our purpose and we truly begin to leave our mark on this world. We begin “to matter, to be productive, to be useful, to have it make a difference that (we) lived at all”. We may have to some extinct had an impact on the world around us prior to growing into who we were created to be, but it can never compare to the impact that is had when we fulfill our function in this world.
Think about it: No one can do what you were created to do; consequently, when you fail to live out your purpose and function according to God’s original design, there is a void in the world.
When we relentlessly pursue our why, we have the distinction of being one of unforgettable many that have used all that God had given them to the fullest. The remarkable thing about those unforgettable individuals is that when they used their gifts and talents and pursued their why, they left an indelible impact on the world around them.
You may think that you are insignificant or that your life does not matter; the truth is that you are indispensable to all the millions of people waiting for what you were created and designed to bring to the world. All eyes are on you. What are you waiting for?
- Will use every fiber of you being to do or become what you were created to do or become?
- What mark will you leave on the world around you?
